Last year set new standards in the cryptography world, filling it with Web3 technologies and development of metaverses. The term “metaverse” became so popular that it took second place on the list of the most popular words of the year according to Oxford University. It triggered lots of discussions where people were discussing what future had in store. Now people wonder what metaverses can bring in and how it can affect our daily life.
CoinWire carry out a survey
Recently the esports source CoinWire carried out a survey among users who invest their money in cryptography. Journalists asked to what extent crypto-enthusiasts believe that metaverse can impact changes in social interactions of people. 10,000 people participated in the survey.
The survey was run in December last year. CoinWire analyzed the results and found out that around 69% of all cryptocurrency investors are sure that metaverses can change the behavior of people in a social situation whereas 31% think that Web3 technologies with virtual reality will not come to nothing.
The respondents were asked another question as well. CoinWire asked if they agreed with the statement that metaverses could introduce a new approach to social activities. The answer showed that 65% of all surveyed users think that this is what is going to happen.
CoinWire asked users about their opinion about the influence of metaverses on various spheres of life. They touched finances, business and education. 61,2% of users think that it will influence finances whereas 39,8% are convinced of the opposite. As for the influence of metaverses on business and education, the figures are more humble there. Only 49,6% and 45% of people believe in the influence of the virtual world, respectively.
Virtual worlds attract a lot of attention
Recently we have been able to notice that major corporations keep up with the times and register new patterns that were somehow connected with the world of metaverses. One of the boldest representatives in the field of improving this direction is Microsoft.
Bill Gates’ company has managed to get 158 patents related to the virtual worlds in the last five years. Their result exceeded Tencent and Epic Games, who are known for their hard work in the sphere of metaverse development. But what’s even more interesting is that Microsoft left Meta behind, the company of Mark Zukerberg who is famous for his fanatical attitude towards Web3-technologies and the idea of placing people in the virtual space.
Acceptance of metaverses nowadays
Denying influence of metaverses on real life in the future is no valid. We tend to see how major companies and state organizations start to integrate in the world of virtual universes which has both advantages and disadvantages.
For example, at the 190th assembly that took place in India Interpol showed their virtual office that was made by the example of the Interpol office in Leon. Other representatives of major companies, including automakers, also confirmed their presence in the metaverse sphere. Fiat and Maruti Suzuki talked about creation of special departments in metaverses and even hired special staff of consultants who will provide all the necessary information.
The French manufacturer Renault has gone even further. They announced creation of the first industrial universe in the world that will help to solve problems related to the real world. Experts analyzed that this way the company would save around $330,000,000 in the nearest 2-3 years, and the metaverse will help to save 50%-60% of resources. It is remarkable that the virtual space represents the exact copy of their real factories that manufacture cars, so one single company called Renault proves that metaverses can affect not only social interactions between people but also business and finances.
Recently the exhibition Consumer Electronic Show 2023 demonstrated new abilities that can appear in virtual universes. There they showed how users can get new sensations from diving into virtual worlds with the help of getting new sensory experience there including touch and smell.

Other surveys
It is noteworthy that not all people interested in metaverses own digital assets. According to the survey, there are only 53% of such people while the other 47% are only interested in the topic of virtual worlds and restrain from investing their money in crypto.
The leader in innovation in the topic of virtual worlds is the USA. Despite this, the level of acceptance of metaverses in the USA has a lot of room for improvement as they are not first in this matter. The best results are shown in China and India. In China, for example, 78% of people treat daily usage of metaverses positively whereas in India 75% of residents of the country look at it positively.
The report from surveys showed that over 90% of people heard the term Web3 at least once. If we speak about understanding of this term, 52% of people are not sure about what Web3 technologies are.
Regulation of crypto assets. Do investors want it?
CoinWire carried out another survey about what crypto-enthusiasts think about regulation of digital assets. Over 60% think that this sector requires more attention as scammers and other malevolent actions have filled the crypto world.
To be fair, we have to admit that recently regulators have started to revive and behave more actively. Bankruptcy of the FTX company played an important role in it as it entailed a loss of $1,800,000,000 to all investors, the government of the USA decided to tackle the issue.
Returning to the topic of multiverses, we have to note that many countries are keeping a close eye to the world of metaverses and Web3 technologies as a whole. Some of the most advanced countries in this matter are South Korea and China. In South Korea the government reached the point where users got a chance to visit an experimental virtual city.
As for the influence of Web3 technologies and metaverses on the real world, there were numerous researches run. They say that the Asian market will become the key player in stage of metaverses and now there is over 60% of all activity in the virtual worlds. As for other moments, the international consulting company McKinsey & Company ran their research of the issue. Experts reached the conclusion that the world of virtual universes in the following 7 years will be able to bring profit of over $5,000,000,000,000.
