We're at the Long Stage of the main event of the summer season in South Korea, and by extension, all regions. The LCK Summer 2023 playoffs are just getting underway and there's plenty of quality League of Legends action ahead.

However, already in the first round of the main stage we will be treated to a TOP-match. Dplus and T1 will play a head-to-head match and will face off in bo5.

The winner of the series will advance to the main stage, where Gen.G will be waiting for him. The loser will leave the tournament at the TOP-6 stage.

For either side, a loss and elimination to the Top 6 would be a disastrous result. However, one of the teams will get it.

Let's try to figure out which of the clubs will be stronger and will face the reigning LCK champion in the next round, and who will have to say goodbye to their claims for the summer split championship and a ticket to Worlds 2023.

T1 Form.

Let's open the TOP match with an analysis of T1's form. The grand club will play as favourites in this match.

Bookmakers put T1 as the first number one of the match. The odds for a T1 victory are at around 1.5.

It is hard to imagine that with T1 on the playing list, they are in the outsider status. Right now, against a top club, T1 are leading, but there are big doubts about their ability.

Last season T1 showed a standard level of play. The team reached the top of the table in all the top tournaments, but there was always something missing. They won at LCK Spring 2022 and then three consecutive top-2s: MSI, LCK Summer and Worlds 2022.

The curse of Top 2s carried over to the 2023 season as well. At the Long Run of the Year, Faker and company took 2nd place at LCK Spring 2023, and then finished third at MSI 2023.

• T1 line-up: Zeus, Oner, Faker, Gumayusi, Keria.

LCK Summer 2023 was a real challenge for T1. The team made it to the play-offs, but did it with difficulty, taking 5th place in the group stage with the score 9-9.

There were problems for the main protagonist - Faker. The legendary mid laner injured his hand and it obviously affected the overall playing conditions of T1. But now Faker is sort of back on track.

Most popular T1 champions

The most popular champion on the top line is Gnar (10 games, 90% win rate). Jayce appeared 8 times and the winrate was 87%. Kenen was played 4 times and won all matches, KSante 4 times and 3 wins, Renekton 4 times and 2 wins.

In the forest were Vi (11 matches, 72% wins), Sejuani (10 games, 80% wins), Wukong (7 matches, 85% wins), Le Sin (6 games, 83% wins).

On the centre line it was Azir (13 games, 69% wins), Gragas (6 matches, 100% wins), Kassadin (5 games, 100% wins), Viktor (4 matches, 75% wins).

The most popular ADC is Lucian (12 matches, 83% wins). Next are Varus (8 games, 87% wins), Caitlyn (5 games, 100% wins), Zeri (4 matches, 75% wins).

Nami (13 matches, 84% winrate). Ashe and Lux have 4 games and 4 wins each.

Dplus KIA Form

We continue the match analysis with the analysis of Dplus KIA's form. In this match the team is in the role of outsider.

This is indicated by the bookmakers. The odds betting on League of Legends for the victory of Dplus KIA are at around 2.4.

Here the T1 factor is involved, because I can find no other explanation for such a gap. Dplus KIA were better as the season went on, but to be fair they were not as good at other events.

Last season Dplus were still DAMWON, but that doesn't change the point. Back then, Korea's top team finished top 3 at LCK Spring 2022 and top 4 at LCK Summer 2022.

Thanks to a win at LCK Regional Finals 2022, the team went to Worls 2022. The World Championships ended with a play-offs loss in a colourful match against Gen.G with a score of 2-3.

After rebranding, Dplus put together a new roster. There was an attempt to make some sort of "super" team, but that story doesn't work too well in LCK.

• Dplus roster: Canna, Canyon, ShowMaker, Deft, Kellin .

Reigning World Champion Deft didn't help Dplus much at the first tournament after the rebranding. At LCK Spring 2023, Dplus finished in the top 5, which is not good.

At LCK Summer 2023, Dplus made it to the play-offs in 4th place, 11-7. This is better than T1.

T1's most popular champions

For the top line, the team picks KSante (4 matches, 50% wins), Renekton (3 games, 33% wins), Gnar (3 matches, 66% wins).

In the forest all the same, more or less standard: VI (7 games, 57% wins), Maokai (3 games, 66% wins), Poppy and Sejuani 2 matches and 0 wins each.

On the centre line with no deviations. There are Azir (4 matches, 50% wins), Ryze (4 games, 50% wins), Syndra (2 games, 50% wins), Cassiopeia (2 matches, 50% wins).

The championship among shooters is held by Lucian. Champion appeared 5 times, but won only 2 matches. Tried to Zeri, but failed: 0-3 in three appearances.

Among the supporting champions, Nami was a success. She was picked up 5 times, and her winrate was 40%. Yummi (3 games, 0% wins) and Ashe (3 games, 66% wins) were also picked.

Dplus KIA - T1 Head-to-head history

In 4 matches in 2023, T1 have lost only 1 time. But, this time it happened at LCK Summer 2023.

Considering the slump T1 are in, it will be difficult for them to face Dplus in this match. Yes, Faker is back and he's kind of full of energy, but will that be enough against the hyped Dplus?

On the other hand, T1 rarely lose in the early stages, Ledgeaya is already closer to the top 3, as indicated by their stats. All in all, I expect a hot League of Legends, but I'll pick Dplus as the winner.
