Maç Tahmini: Gen.G - T1 | LoL
MSI 2023 - PlayoffGood to see you on EGamersWorld.
We continue our Mid-Season Invitational 2023 review series with a betting tee on T1 vs Gen.G Esports in the upper grid semi-finals. A rehearsal for the grand final, no less?
The encounter between these two clubs has been one of the most exciting derbies in recent seasons and will now get a new lease of life on the international stage. Let's not talk about the principled nature of the game; it's already too obvious.
We will try to see which of the bitter rivals will move one step closer to becoming MSI 2023 champions, and who will move on to the last chance final.
Let's get started.
Form T1
It's hard to start the parsing of a T1 match without analyzing the South Korean titan's League of Legends form. Fortunately, there is no need to do so.
T1 will approach the match as favourites. Bookmakers believe in Faker and company and give odds of around 1.4 on their win.
It remains a mystery to me where that figure comes from. I understand that no team better than T1 has been invented yet, but even the best have gaps.
T1 has a losing streak of 4 tournaments, although for them "failures" is a very specific concept. And 4 because Faker and company have lost 4 grand finals before that:
- Mid-Season Invitational 2022;
- LCK Summer 2022;
- Worlds 2022;
- LCK Spring 2023.
Sometimes they were "ripped off" as they were on the international stage, especially at Worlds 2022. However, sometimes the losses were quite uncompromising, which in the case of T1 is perplexing.
- T1's line-up: zeus, Oner, Faker, Gumayusi, Keria.
The South Korean and world stage giants will be making up for lost time, and in the case of T1 it is the championship trophies, at MSI 2023. The Long Corner Mid-Season Invitational 2023 has gone very smoothly so far, with T1 smothering MAD Lions after a hard-fought win on the first map and advancing to the next round, that is here.
The most popular T1 champions
The most popular champion on the top line is Gnar (10 games, 90% wins). Jayce appeared 8 times and the win rate was 87%. Kenen played 4 times and won all games, KSante 4 times and 3 wins, Renekton 4 times and 2 wins.
In the Forest, Vi (11 games, 72% wins), Sejuani (10 games, 80% wins), Wukong (7 games, 85% wins), Le Sin (6 games, 83% wins) were picks.
On the centre line were Azir (13 games, 69% wins), Gragas (6 games, 100% wins), Kassadin (5 games, 100% wins), Viktor (4 games, 75% wins).
The most popular ADC is Lucian (12 games, 83% wins). Next are Varus (8 games, 87% wins), Caitlyn (5 games, 100% wins), Zeri (4 games, 75% wins).
Nami (13 games, 84% win rate). Ashe and Lux have 4 games and 4 wins each.
T1 will strive to outplay their regional rivals and they seem to have everything to do so, as the team's main failures occur in the final stages of tournaments. However, Gen.G is clearly no gift, so let's move on to a discussion of their playing form.
Gen.G's form
We continue the match review with a breakdown of Gen.G's playing form. In this match, they will be playing in underdog status.
That said, the bookies are giving some unfairly low odds on Gen.G as far as I'm concerned. They give 2.2 for Gen.G., which is a logical number for a BO5, but not in the case of the reigning LCK champions with the top team, and Kryptonite T1 as well.
Gen.G is not doing well on the international stage, that's a fact. The last two major tournaments, Worlds 2021 and Worlds 2022, ended with Gen.G in the Top 4, which, again, is not what the champions of the most competitive league in competitive LoL want.
- Gen.G's line-up: Doran, Peanut, Chovy, Peyz, Delight .
However, Gen.G prove their mettle. Even with the change of the duo-bot they remained a formidable force and seem to be the best team in defence, as demonstrated both at the LCK Spring 2023 championship and directly at the Mid-Season Invitational 2023, where Gen.G managed to play 1 match in the net.
The first opponent at MSI 2023 for the LCK Spring 2023 champions was LEC Winter 2023 champions G2 Esports. "Samurai" tried to take it by leaps and bounds, hence the Darius on the first card. The match itself ended 3-1 in favour of Gen.G.

A repeat of the LCK Spring 2023 Grand Final is possible, but don't rush to pick a winner. I'd be catching the highlights as in a match of such close teams, everything is decided in the moments.
History of head-to-head encounters
The teams have a very rich history of head-to-head encounters. In the last 5 matches T1 have a narrow 1 series lead, but their last match - the LCK Spring 2023 final - was won by Gen.G.
Result of the match
In this match we should expect a very close series. Given the level of play of the teams, as well as the history of personal meetings, either side can win.
I, on the other hand, lean towards victory for T1, for they reach the finals very easily, and there the adventures begin. However, I think Gen.G will take their card.
Bottom line: 3-1 win for T1.
