How the books view it: Gen.G favorite
Before the start of the Gen.G vs. G2 match at the Mid-Season Invitational 2025, let's figure out which of the pair is the favorite. There is no intrigue to be expected: Gen.G is the absolute favorite.
The average odds for the best LCK team to win are around 1.1. In fact, there is no chance for G2 Esports.
Gen.G Gaming form. What result can be expected from Gen.G
We open a full betting tip for the Gen.G – G2 match with an analysis of the favorite’s playing form.
In 2023, Gen.G confidently won LCK Spring 2023, leaving T1 no chance in the grand final. They were a little less lucky at MSI 2023, where Bilibili Gaming sensationally did not let the Korean champions into the final.
- Gen.G lineup: Kiin, Canyon, Chovy, Ruler, Duno .
Gen.G made it to the playoffs without any problems at LCK Summer 2023. During the group stage, the title Koreans lost only 2 series, ultimately finishing in 2nd place in the group stage standings with a score of 16-2.
In their first playoff match, Gen.G crushed HLE. An easy 3-0 and now Gen.G is ready to reach the league finals for the second time in a row.
The Grand Final is a rematch of the fight for entry here. In the last round, Gen.G beat T1 3-2 in a very tough series and I think the final will be the same.
And they did well in the grand finals, too. And even easier than in the match for entry here: Gen.G became the champion of the LCK summer split, beating T1 with a score of 3-1.
Worlds 2023 Gen.G started with a confident victory over Gam Esports. It was fast and painful for Gam: 22 minutes and only 5 kills for the Vietnamese.
In the match for getting into the basket 2-0 Gen.G played against their colleagues, and also the worst competitors of T1. The South Korean derby, like the last 4, ended in favor of Gen.G, because Chovy with his Akali left no trace of T1.
Gen.G advanced to the Worlds 2023 playoffs with a 3-0 record. In their final group stage match, they played against G2 Esports and, as expected, easily defeated the Europeans with a score of 2-0.
Being one of the favorites of Worlds 2023, Gen.G failed to cope with the burden of responsibility and lost in the very first round of the playoffs, losing to BLG.
In their first match at LCK Spring 2024, Gen.G will face a test against T1. I am sure that the current LCK champions will pass it with pride, because Gen.G have historically been good at home against the Worlds 2023 champions. Following this, Gen.G will play Nongshim RedForce, where they should outplay their opponents with unenviable ease.
After winning LCK Spring 2024, Gen.G attended the first international tournament of the season – Mid-Season Invitational 2024 – where they became champions.
Gen.G attended Esports World Cup 2024 as MSI 2024 champions, where they lost in their first match, finishing in the top 8. At LCK Summer 2024, the team has no equal and secured an early playoff spot, going 12-0.
Gen.G advanced too confidently to the LCK Summer 2024 playoffs, playing the regular season with a score of 17-1. They immediately advanced to the second round of the playoffs, after which they chose DPlus KIA as their opponent, not T1. In the debut match, Gen.G dealt with their opponents with class: 3-0 and an easy passage to the next stage. However, Gen.G played with class throughout the LCK Summer 2024 playoffs, but stumbled in the grand final, losing to Hanwha Life Esports with a score of 2-3.
The team started Worlds 2024 with a victory over WBG in the first round of the Swiss Stage. Then another victory over LPL residents, this time Top Esports, and getting into the 2-0 basket. They made it to the LoL World Championship 2024 playoffs thanks to a confident victory over HLE in the 2-0 basket with the same score in the match.
In the debut match of the LoL Worlds 2024 playoffs, Gen.G played against FlyQuest. What should have ended in a decisive victory for the top Korean team turned into a full-fledged bo5, where Gen.G risked losing to the Americans, but still prevailed with a score of 3-2. Then there was T1, where Gen.G lost with a score of 1-3 and left the tournament at the TOP-4 stage.
The 2025 season began with a performance at the LCK Cup 2025 in the Elder Group, where they showed a very viscous start, playing the group with a score of 3-2. Thanks to the updated LCK format, this gave them a pass directly to the playoff semifinals. There they met Hanwha Life Esports and, being the favorite, lost with a score of 2-3. In the lower bracket match, they managed to beat Nongshim RedForce with great difficulty with a minimal advantage of 3-2. But in the next match, against DPlus KIA, Gen.G showed what class is called, closing their opponents with a score of 3-0, without a chance. In the grand final, Gen.G again played against HLE and again lost in a full bo5, taking the TOP-2 according to the results of the LCK Cup 2025.
Gen.G had a blast at Road to MSI 2025. They went undefeated during the regular season, finishing with a 18-0 record. After such a great performance, Gen.G advanced to the upper bracket match of Road to MSI 2025, where they defeated HLE 3-2, advancing to MSI 2025.

G2 Esports form. What result can be expected from G2
We continue our analysis of the G2 – BLG match with an analysis of BLG’s game form. In this match, they are playing as underdogs with a win odds of around 6.
At the start of the 2023 season, the Samurai made it to the UK capital to participate in MSI 2023, winning the LEC Winter draw. Then G2 made it to the grand final without any problems, also beating MAD Lions quite easily
In the spring, at LEC Spring 2023, G2 Esports played worse. They advanced to the playoffs of the tournament from the second match of their group, getting into the lower bracket of the playoffs. Once there, they again played against the “lions”, but they were unable to repeat the success of the winter LEC: G2 Esports were eliminated from the LEC Spring 2023 playoffs, but got to the Mid-Season Invitational 2023.
- G2 Esports roster: BrokenBlade, SkewMond, Caps, Hans Sama, Labrov.
Play-In for G2 Esports was successful and even easier than for BLG. G2 Esports did not feel LOUD and easily closed PSG Talon, winning against both clubs with a score of 2-0.
Things weren't as rosy in the Bracket Stage. In the first round, G2 Esports played Gen.G, probably the main contender for the championship title, and managed to take a map from them, which is more than good in the reality of the modern competitive scene.
In the lower bracket, G2 Esports met their main rival, MAD Lions. The European derby on the international stage ended with a confident victory for G2, confirming their status as the best team in the LEC.
As a result of the only international event so far, G2 Esports took the TOP-6. The result is good.
Before the LEC Finals, the “samurai” took another cup to their headquarters. It was the trophy for winning LEC Summer 2023, where G2 easily dealt with EXCEL in the grand final.
In the first round of the LEC Finals 2023, G2 Esports played against Team BDS. The French put up a fight, but they couldn’t pull more than 1 map.
G2 Esports had no problem first taking on MAD Lions to reach the grand finals of the 2023 LEC Finals, and then took down Fnatic in the finals.
In the first match on the main stage of the year, G2 Esports played against Dplus. Being an underdog, the team managed to beat the title Koreans, and all thanks to the signature Draven from Hans Sama. Then they managed to beat none other than WBG, who subsequently took the TOP-2.
But then the failures began, and quite serious ones at that. First they lost to Gen with a score of 0-2, then they lost to NRG with a score of 0-2 (which was a total shock), and finally they were eliminated from Worlds 2023 after losing to Bibili Gaming.
G2 Esports will start their journey to LEC Winter 2024 with a match against BDS, one of G2's main competitors on their way to the championship. We expect a confident game from G2. Next up is a match against Karmine Corp, which should be easier than the game against BDS. In fact, that's what happened, but the match against Rogue was perhaps the first sensation of last week, as G2 lost. Well, that's why it's bo1 and bo1.
During the regular season, LEC Winter 2024 demonstrated their standard game. G2 Esports won 7 out of 9 matches, sharing the TOP-1 of the table with BDS.
In the opening match of the LEC Winter 2024 playoffs, G2 Esports easily crushed GiantX with a score of 2-0. Then G2 Esports met Fnatic in the quarterfinals, where the “orange” looked pretty good: they were able to take the map, but this did not affect the outcome of the match. Then G2 Esports met BDS in the match for the exit to the grand final and without a single hitch smashed the French with a score of 3-0. Almost the same fate awaited MAD Lions KOI in the grand final, with a difference of only one map.
G2 Esports attended the Mid-Season Invitational 2024 and showed a very solid result there. They managed to reach the TOP-4, and this is a pretty high result for a team from the LEC.
Heading into the Esports World Cup 2024, G2 Esports secured a spot in the LEC Summer 2024 playoffs. At EWC 2024 itself, G2 Esports started off with a win over FlyQuest, but then lost to TES in the grand finals.
LEC Summer 2024 Playoffs started with a fairly confident victory over Karmine Corp with a score of 2-0. Then, an equally easy victory over BDS and, as a result, reaching the TOP-3. In the match for reaching the grand final of the LEC Summer 2024 upper bracket, G2 Esports played against Fnatic, where they lost with a score of 2-3. In the match of the lower bracket, they defeated BDS with a score of 3-2, and then became champions of LEC Summer 2024, defeating Fnatic in the final.
The 2024 LEC Season Finals started with an unexpected loss to MAD Lions KOI (2-3). However, this did not stop G2 from coming back through the lower bracket, outplaying all opponents and ultimately becoming the champions of the 2024 LEC Season Finals.
The debut at Worlds 2024 happened in a match with paiN Gaming, where G2 was stomped by the Yone + Yasuo combination. In the next match, against the LCK Summer 2024 champions from Hanwha Life Esports, the tricks did not work and G2 lost. But they got into the 2-1 bracket, winning WBG in a fairly confident manner. However, they then lost to T1 and BLG, flying out to the TOP-12.
The LEC Winter 2025 group stage was 6-3 and took 3rd place. In principle, this is not bad, but remembering G2's performance last season, we should expect a completely different game in the playoffs, a higher quality one. In the first round of the playoffs, they showed exactly this game: they beat GiantX with a score of 2-0 without much chance for the latter. In the second round of the playoffs' upper bracket, they completely defeated Fnatic, G2's main competitor in the LEC. Then - a victory over Karmine Corp with a score of 3-1. In the grand final, there was a rematch against Karmine Corp, where G2 literally "flew away", losing with a score of 0-3.
G2 Esports made it through the group stage with a squeak. They finished the regular season with a score of 5-4, getting into the “last car” of the upper bracket of the playoffs. In the playoffs, they “restarted” and confidently reached the grand final, but at the most important moment, they again missed out on the championship, losing to MKOI.
At MSI 2025, Gen.G started with the Play-In Stage, where they first lost and won against Furia (3-2), but then lost to BLG (0-3) without a chance. In the lower bracket, they beat GAM (3-0), advancing to the Bracket Stage.
Most popular G2 Esports champions
Gragas (3 matches, 66% wins) is sent to the top lane.
In the jungle it's either Belveth (2 matches, 100% wins) or Maokai (2 matches, 50% wins) or Gragas (2 matches, 50% wins).
The mid lane is varied, with Yasuo, Sylass, Cassiopeia, Sejuani and Yone all picking once and winning their games.
Among the shooters, Draven plays (3 matches, 66% wins).
Support Nautilus (2 matches, 50% wins), Nami (2 matches, 50% wins).
Recent head to head: Gen.G edging it
In the history of the competitive LoL scene, Gen.G have beaten G2 Esports 4 times.
Players to watch: Chovy and Hans Sama
The central players of the match, in my opinion, will be Chovy and Hans Sama. Chovy's stats speak for the Gen.G mid lane - this is Gen.G's ultimate weapon and they will use it to the fullest. As for G2, for me everything is still decided on the bottom lane. The only problem here is how to beat Ruler and Duro, it is not yet clear.
Predicted result of the match Gen.G – G2 Esports at MSI 2025
In my opinion, it should go pretty smoothly for Gen.G. We saw G2 Esports lose badly to BLG in Play-In and I don't think it will be any different against Gen.G.
Betting tip: Gen.G win 3-0.
