DPC 2023 Tour 3: WEU Division I (Upper)Welcome back to EGamersWorld!
We close out the first week of games at DPC 2023: WEU Upper Division Tour 3 with a betting round-up of the Entity vs Quest Esports match. Unobviously, however, this match should be one of the most colourful duels of the week.
Not because they're playing Liquid and Gladiators, whose derby is so boring that it's no longer seen as a match between the top 1 and top 2 teams in the world, but because of the unpredictability factor. In the third round, both clubs play dynamically, with plenty of marriages, something The International is heresy to watch.
In addition, both sides are desperate to make it to the last Major of the season with the ghostly hope of securing a direct entry to The International 2023. Let's see which team will be one step closer to the elusive goal.
Entity Form
We will start the dissection of the match by analyzing the Entity's form. They will be the front-runners here, and they are the favourites to win the match.
Bookmakers put the odds of Entity's success at around 1.6. It's worth noting that this is the highest odds on the favourite out of all the matches of the third game day.
We can agree with that odds in principle. No matter how you look at it, Entity are more well-played as a team and have better results.
In the first round of the DPC Entity jumped into the last wagon of the departing train, finishing in the Top 4 at DPC 2023: WEU Upper Division Tour 1 and advancing to The Lima Major 2023. At the first Major tournament of the season the team finished in the Top 6, which is a pretty good result.
Entity failed to repeat it. Fishman and company "failed" in the second round of the DPC, then finished in top-6 and almost lost their place in the top round, but all came through.
Attempts to cheer up were made at DreamLeague S19. At the $1,000,000 tournament, Entity were awful: the team didn't win a single match, finishing the first stage 0-4-3 and eventually dropping out of the tournament.
- Entity's line-up: watson, Stormstormer, Tobi, Kataomi, Fishman.
Entity's randomness persists in the third round of the DPC as well. Entity have played two matches, but it doesn't allow them to draw any conclusions.
First, the team defeated Team Liquid without any chances, closing the series 2-0, but then, absolutely inertly lost to Tundra Esports 0-2.
Entity's most popular heroes
Entity took Mirana (5 games, 20% wins), Pangolier (3 games, 33% wins), Rubick (3 games, 33% wins), Bane (2 games 50% wins).
Dark Seer, Pugna, Storm Spirit and Anti-Mage also appeared in spades. All were picked twice, but no one won even once.
Entity wise. This was especially noticeable in the match against Tundra, where the set of Batrider, WR, Pudge, Pugna and Magnus didn't surprise the stable opponent, but rather made him laugh. All in all, it's best to try and default, as Quest will be doing just that.
Quest Esports form
Let's move on to a breakdown of Quest Esports' playing form. They will be playing in catch-up status in this encounter.
Bookmakers are cool on a potential Quest Esports win, but are in no hurry to bury them. Odds on a win in the region of 2 confirm this.
Indeed, burying Quest Esports prematurely is a bad idea. From experience last season, we can say that the team is capable and can impose the struggle of grands, not to mention the "average" inhabitants, which, judging by the recent performance are Entity. Quest Esports, however, have not run away.
Being under the tag of Ooredoo Thunders, they finished in the top 5 of the second round, Ledgeive in the OGs. They may have lost a historic chance for themselves, but they still have a third round and need to get involved here and now.
- Quest Esports line-up: TA2000, No!ob, ATF, OmaR, kaori.
Right now Quest Esports is in the process of adapting. Although the core of the team has been together for a long time, the arrival of ATF on the Long Run of the third round greatly affects the team synergy. ATF is a very egocentric player and will therefore have to pay more attention to him in the team.
So far, Quest have an identical scoreline to Entity, with a difference of two. In their first match against the Gaimin Gladiators, the Quest lost by a score of 1-2.
In the next game Quest won a crucial match. They played against OG and managed to take them down, which will give Quest some morale boost.
Quest's most popular heroes
Clockwerk (3 matches, 100% wins), Pangolier (2 matches, 100% wins), Silencer (2 matches, 50% wins), Death Prophet (2 matches, 0 wins), Rubick (2 matches, 0% wins). Not forgetting the signature Morphling.
Let's see how the match will play out given the rather different draft ideologies. As stated above, Entity can freak out, but it's not advisable to do so given their past experience.
Quest - Entity match history
Quest played against Entity in the past while they were still Ooredoo Thunders. They got a 2-0 win back then, but now they have a new player and the outcome will not entirely depend on the result of the head-to-head encounters.
Match outcome
In this encounter, I expect a roughly even game from the two sides. It will most likely end on three maps, but I'll take my money on Quest.
They're looking the better for it. I don't consider Entity's win over Liquid to be anything supernatural, the more so as Liquid played with a substitute. So my vote goes to Entity.
Bottom line: 2-1 for Quest.
Quest Esports (formerly Ooredoo Thunders) is the 29th ranked team in the world. In the first round, DPC in Division 2 took first place, securing a place in Division 1. In the 2nd round of DPC they almost made it to the majors, but missed them by a small margin. Took 5th place, giving up their place to OG. The team leaves Wuiter and is replaced by ATF. They've started the 3rd round with a 2-1 defeat by GG, which wasn't bad at all, and in the next match they even managed to defeat the very same OG. Maybe this time they will be luckier.
Entity is the 19th team in the world rankings. DPC played well in their region in the first round, finishing 4th in the end. There were, of course, risks of being out of the safety zone, but the replaying put everything in its place and of the company of Tundra, ETG, OG the latter proved to be weaker. The Lima Major has been conducted in a decent manner. At the end, they share 5th-6th place with EG. The second round of the DPC was quite unsuccessful. They finished it in the 6th place. They could have been relegated to the 2nd tournament, but they managed to be overpowered by Nigma and Monaspa in the replay for the 6th-8th places. They started the 3rd round very confidently with a 2-0 win over Liquid. But already in the 2nd game they lost to Tundra 0 2. It's not entirely clear.
Quest are very much impressed with their style and understanding of the game. ETG always look somehow incomplete in their games. As if they're missing something. In this match, OT are the underdogs, so a handicap from them looks very promising. In addition, their previous meeting ended in a 2 0 OT win.
I'm a prognosticator, I live only by it. I dedicate all my time to it. No other interests.
Been doing it for quite a long time and have been quite successful. Believe it or not, it is up to everyone. But why not give it a try? Maybe you will like this life!
